received his medical education at the Dutch-speaking Catholic University of Louvain in 1971. He became Doctor in Philosophy, in Gynecology, Obstetrics and Infertility on oocyte donation in 1989 at the Dutch-speaking Brussels Free University, which pioneered in 1991 the use of intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI). He is currently Professor of Reproductive Medicine at the medical campus of the Dutch-speaking Brussels Free University, Clinical Director of the Center for Reproductive Medicine at the same University and Visiting Professor at the University of Utrecht since 2005. He is an Editorial Board member of "Fertility and Sterility" and "Acta Obstetrica et Gynecologica Scandinavica", has been Associate Editor of Human Reproduction Update from 1998 to 2004 and Chairman of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) from 2005 to 2007. Professor Paul Devroey was author and co-author of 464 international peer reviewed articles, received 3 national and 4 international research awards and has written 3 books. He was (Co-) President of the Belgian National Committee for Bio-ethics in 2005 and since March 2008 he has been a member of the Ethics Review Process of the European Commission.

graduated with a Masters in Biomedical Sciences in 2001 from the Brussels Free University, Belgium. In 2009, she obtained her PhD in Medical Sciences in the research field of gene expression and cell commitment in the human pre-implantation embryo. Her research is published in international peer reviewed journals, including Human Reproduction, Molecular Human Reproduction and Stem Cells, and has been presented at several international congresses. Currently, Greet is working as a clinical embryologist at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at the University Hospital in Brussels. Her prime research interests are on totipotency and differentiation of early human embryonic cells.

graduated from the Hoger Rijksinstituut voor Technisch Onderwijs met Normaalafdelingen (HORITON) in Wemmel-Brussel (Belgium) in 1989 with a degree in Clinical Chemistry and laboratory technology. In 1992 he joined the Centre for Reproductive Medicine (CRG) of the Brussels University Hospital (UZB) as professional bachelor in science. He has experience with all the procedures related to IVF/ICSI laboratory work. Since 2004, he is appointed as chief laboratory technician in the ART laboratory. He was involved in starting up the IVF lab at the Women’s Hospital International and Fertility Centre in Kampala (Uganda), where he is working temporarily as an embryologist since 2004. In 2009-2010 he worked in the IVF lab of the assisted conception unit of the Royale Hayat Hospital in Hawally, Kuwait.

graduated as a Scientist in Zoology at the University of Ghent in 1988. She attained her Master and PhD degree in Diabetes Research in 1992 and 1995 at the Free University of Brussels. Since 1996, she works as a clinical embryologist at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine, University Hospital Brussels. She is author or co-author of several peer review papers and book chapters on ICSI and embryo biopsy. She is a member of the European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) and the local Belgian Society for Reproductive Medicine. Doctor De Vos is recognized as an ESHRE certified Senior Clinical Embryologist. She is an Associate Editor of Human Reproduction.

graduated from the Stedelijk Instituut voor Technisch Onderwijs in Mechelen in 1978 with a degree in clinical chemistry. He started his career at the Radio Immuno Assay laboratory at the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussels in 1979. He joined the team of Prof. André Van Steirteghem and Prof. Paul Devroey as an embryologist in 1983. Since then he has been involved in the start-up and development of the IVF laboratory at the centre for reproductive Medicine. Ronny Janssens is currently the Quality Manager of the Centre for Reproductive Medicine of the Universitair Ziekenhuis Brussel where he was responsible for the implementation of a quality system and accreditation according to ISO 17025 and later ISO15189. He has been an ESHRE member since 1985 and cofounder of the paramedical group within ESHRE.

graduated from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) with a Masters in Biological Sciences in 1985, Master in Medical and Pharmaceutical Research in 1989 and PhD in Medical Sciences in 1995. Since 1996 she is working as a clinical embryologist in the IVF laboratory of the Centre for Reproductive Medicine (UZ Brussel) where she currently coordinates clinical and basic research. She is also a professor of Embryology at the VUB. In collaboration with the Centre for Medical Genetics (UZ Brussel) she contributes to the Pre-implantation Genetic Diagnosis program, more in particular HLA typing on pre-implantation embryos. She is also involved in stem cell research at the Human Embryonic Stem Cell Laboratory of the VUB. Her fields of interest are totipotency and differentiation in early human embryonic cells and the immunology of implantation.

graduated as a technician in pharmaceutical and biological techniques before studying Biomedical Sciences at the Free University of Brussels where she graduated in 1997. The subject of her MSc thesis was ICSI in the mouse, performed in the Center for Reproductive Medicine directed by Prof. A. Van Steirteghem and Prof. P. Devroey. After her studies, she immediately joined the team as a clinical embryologist. Initially her main research interest was on the epidemiology and screening of Yq deletions in male infertile patients. In 2009, she obtained the ESHRE embryology certification of Senior Clinical Embryologist. Her current interests are embryo morphology scoring, embryo selection and vitrification in reproductive medicine.

graduated as a Doctor in Science at the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium) in 1986. In 1990, she began as a clinical embryologist at the Centre for Reproductive Medicine at the University Hospital of Brussels, where she became the coordinator of Clinical Embryology in 2000. In 2009, she was appointed as Head of the certified ART Laboratory. Since 2008, she is recognized as senior clinical embryologist by ESHRE. She is a member of different fertility societies; ESHRE, ASRM, Alpha Scientists in Reproductive Medicine, and a board member of the Belgian Society for Reproductive Medicine.
She is author and co-author of about 100 papers in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters, and is a peer reviewer of several journals in the field of reproductive medicine.
