Module description

Reproductive Medicine is a very active scientific specialty that requires technical knowledge and educational training in research, quality management, Informatics, and general management. In past years, the need to integrate these fields following good standards of quality has been widely accepted.

To provide appropriate Reproductive Health Care it is fundamental not only to have the skills to manage multidisciplinary teams, but also to have basic notions on economics, strategic planning, quality accreditations, regulatory and legal regulations, as well as steps to optimize processes and the effective utilization of informatic data bases. This cumulus of knowledge and information will certainly facilitate the achievement of excellence in those centers practicing Reproductive Medicine.

Learning objectives:

Upon completion of this program, the participant will be able to:

  • Understand how to lead projects, define strategies according to environmental needs and generate strategic objectives.
  • Identify the way to construct efficient and adequate Reproductive Medicine Units including employees with technical expertise to succeed.
  • Build and maintain successful multidisciplinary teams.
  • Understand main concepts about Marketing, financial management, practice organization, workflow and control management systems, to follow-up and improve the business plan.
  • Define, develop, and execute quality control and quality assessment programs for Reproductive Medicine units based on patient’s satisfaction, clinical and laboratory outcomes.
  • Learn to build, manage and utilize electronic data bases for clinical and laboratory data, to build an integrated informatic system including patient management, documentation, quality control, financial information, management, statistic reports and support for scientific publications.
  • Know relevant issues about European legislation regarding reproductive treatments.

Target audience

This course is intended for any IVF center managers, being they medical, or administrative as well as for the laboratory Directors and heads of other departments.
