Professor Carlos Simón
obtained his MD degree from Valencia University in 1985 and is Board Certified Obstetrics and Gynecologist after completing his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology in the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia from 1986 to 1991. Dr Simón completed a postdoctoral research fellowship on Reproductive Immunology in the Department of Ob./Gyn. at Stanford University from 1991 to 1994. Since 1994 he has been Associate Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology at Valencia University, Spain, and Scientific Director of the Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad Foundation (FIVI). In 2004 he was appointed as Head of the Valencia Stem Cell Bank and Coordinator of Regenerative Medicine until 2007 at Príncipe Felipe Research Centre, a private non-profit organism devoted to stem cell derivation and research. In 2007 he became Full Professor at the University of Valencia. Research in his laboratory focuses on human embryonic implantation, uterine receptivity, human embryonic and adult stem cells leading to the publication of over 253 per review papers and 14 books. Since 2001 his background on Reproductive Medicine led him to the research on human embryonic stem cells in Spain. He has received many national and international awards and is member of the Editorial Board of several international publications including Human Reproduction and Reproductive Biomedicine on line. Professor Simón has also served as member in the research committees of international societies including SGI, ASRM, ESHRE and IFFS, and the World Health Organization as member of the HRP Scientific and Ethical Review Group since 1998.

Amparo Galán Albiñana
obtained her Pharmacy Bachelor degree in 1998 and her European PhD degree in 2003 in the University of Valencia. During her studies, she did short stays in Université de Paris in France, and University of Aberdeen in UK. She worked in IVI Foundation for two years, and at 2006 she became a researcher of the National Stem Cell Bank, branch of Valencia, settled in Prince Felipe Research Centre. She has participated in several international and national meetings and scientific projects, as well as a teacher in the University of Valencia. Her publications include numerous papers indexed in Medline and co-authored book chapters. She is a current member of the International Society of Stem Cell Research (ISSCR) and a reviewer of Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics.

Ana Isabel Marqués-Marí
is graduated in Biology, Speciality in Biotecnology, from the University of Alicante, Spain. She attained her PhD in Cell Biology from the University of Valencia in 2004. Since 1999 she has participated in many research projects attached to the Cell Biology Department of the University of Valencia, where she also was associate professor in 2006. She joined the Spanish Stem Cell Bank at the Prince Felipe Research Center in November 2006, where she works as a researcher. She held a fellowship for postdoctoral training at Monash Immunology and Stem Cell Laboratories, Monash University, Melbourne, Australia during 2007 and 2008. She has been coauthor of many peer review papers and textbook chapters, and attended numerous national and international conferences. She is member of the International Society for Stem Cell Research (ISSCR). Dr. Marqués-Marí areas of interest include embryonic and germ stem cells, especially focused on the differentiation and maturation to gametes in vitro.

Francisco M. Delgado Rosas
is a biologist, specialized in reproductive and regenerative medicine. He was graduated from Granada University School of Sciences in 2005 and the next year he obtained the Master in Human Assisted Reproduction from the Valencia University/IVI Valencia. In 2007 he started his PhD studies in IVI Foundation and Department of Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology of Valencia University, working on endometriosis and ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. At the same time, he was specialized in cord blood processing and stem cells researching in the public cord blood bank of Valencia and Príncipe Felipe Research Centre respectively. Francisco Delgado has been teaching about animal models in endometriosis research within the Master in Biotechnology of Human Assisted Reproduction of IVI during the last three years, and currently he is leading the processing and cryopreservation laboratory of IVIDA, the cord blood bank of IVI.

Francisco Dominguez, Ph.D
is the Chief Scientific Officer of Embryomics, a technology-based company devoted to the development of non-invasive diagnostics of chromosome abnormalities in the pre-implantation embryo using metabolomic techniques. He was doctorate in Valencia University at Carlos Simon´s lab focusing its research career in the molecular biology of implantation and the search of biomarkers of endometrial receptivity. He is reviewer of several leading journals in reproductive medicine and has more than 25 peer reviewed papers and 10 book chapters specialized in the reproductive medicine.

Irene Cervelló
is a doctor in biology, specialized in cell biology, somatic stem cells and reproductive-regenerative medicine. She obtained his PhD degree (University of Valencia) in 2008 with a study based in the description of somatic stem cells in human endometrium. She is currently a post-doctoral member of the University of Valencia, Spain. She is author or co-author of several publications and book chapters related with stem cells in human endometrium and regenerative medicine. She participated in many international and national congresses in gynaecologic research area. She has recently received the President´s Presenter Award at the 2009 Annual Meeting of the Society for Gynecologic Investigation (SGI). Nowadays, she is the research leader of the endometrial stem cell group of the Valencia University.

Julio Martín
completed his undergraduate in Biology in 1995 at the University of Barcelona (UB). He obtained a Master’s degree in Biotechnology in 1997 (UB, and Polytechnic University of Catalonia). In 1998 he held a predoctoral research fellowship in the Department of Ob./Gyn., School of Medicine (University of Valencia) joining the group of Professor Carlos Simon at IVI foundation. In 2002 he specialized in molecular genetics for in vitro embryo diagnosis at the Centre for Medical Genetics (UZ-Vrije Universiteit Brussel) joining the group of Dr. Sermon and Dr. De Rycke, directed by Professor Inge Liebaers. He has been director of the Laboratory of Molecular Diagnosis, (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis Unit) in the University Institute IVI Valencia since 2003. His main interest is in the field of genetics of single-gene disorders and applied molecular technology to in vitro embryo diagnosis and non-invasive prenatal diagnosis. (julio@ivi.es)

María Eugenia Póo Llanillo
graduated in 1986 as a Biologist at the Universidad Simón Bolivar (USB), Venezuela.  After graduation, she completed her training in immunology of human reproduction and molecular biology through postgraduate courses at the same university and the Instituto de Estudios Avanzados (IDEA). In 1993, began to work at the Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad in Caracas, as a Supervisor of the Immunology Section of the Special Tests Unit and contributed to the set up of the Recurrent Fetal Loss Clinic. From 1997 to 2005, served as Embryologist at the Fertility Clinic of the Centro Médico Docente La Trinidad, the largest IVF program in Venezuela. Since 2006, is member of the research team of the Spanish Stem Cell Bank, Valencia Branch, at the Prince Felipe Research Center and has made important contributions to the development of approaches for derivation of human embryonic stem cells from single biopsied blastomere preserving embryo viability. Currently, she is the lab manager of the Bank and continues working on several research projects with human embryonic stem cells. At the same time develop educational activities coordinating courses and teaching classes at the four editions of the University of Valencia official master “Biotechnology of Assisted Human Reproduction” organized by Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad.

Miguel Moreno Albiñana
attorney at Law by the University of València. His professional career as a Lawyer began in 1994, working for companies and multinationals. Four years later he assumed technical functions in the Human Resources Departments of several companies that made him responsible of the Human Resources Department and to be the person in charge of the Legal Consultancy. In 2002 he was appointed Personnel Manager of IVI Group in the Communication and Human Resources Department, while he carried out the position of lawyer of IVI Group. So that he started to be a part of IVI and give legal advice to different groups of interest, ethic research committee and welfare as regards of legislation about assisted reproduction, bioethics, research and related legal branches. Since 2003 he runs the Legal Consultancy of IVI Group, whose performance has taken him to acquire knowledge of first level in legislation on assisted reproduction and complementary techniques. Also, the international scope of the IVI Clinics has allowed him to obtain an additional training on international legislation referred to the matter, being an authorized voice in Laws on Assisted Reproduction. Frequently several public and private organisms ask him for his specialized opinion about the indications of some assisted reproduction treatments and its place in the current legal frame.

Raul Gomez
graduated from Valencia University Faculty of Biology in 1999. He received the Scientific Program Prize Paper Award at the 2001 Annual Meeting of the American Society for Reproductive Medicine and the SGI presenters award in 2002 after describing the main role of VEGFR2 in the development of Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS).  He obtained his PhD degree in Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2004 with later Special Distinction from the University of Valencia. Dr Gomez held a postdoctoral research fellowship on reproductive angiogenesis in Columbia University from 2005 to 2007 at Dr Zimmermann´s lab. He is currently a member of the Fundacion  Instituto Valenciano de Infertilidad, a university-affiliated research institute in Valencia, Spain. He has published 11 papers in high rated scientific journal and several book chapters in the field of OHSS. He focuses on two main lines of research: The role of the VEGF/VEGFR2 system in gynaecological disorders like OHSS, endometriosis and Policystic ovarian syndrome and also the study of the Notch system in physiological and pathological conditions of ovarian angiogenesis.
